Welcome to my personal space! I’m Dan Calixto, a passionate guitarist, composer, and music educator based in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Known as the Brazilian Guitar Viking, I’ve spent over two decades refining my craft and sharing my love for music with audiences and students across the world.
Music has been my lifelong journey — from the early days of picking up my first guitar to performing in front of thousands and teaching the next generation of musicians. I believe in the power of music to bring people together, tell stories, and express emotions that words alone can’t capture.
My Musical Journey
My passion for music began at a young age, and by the time I was 17, I was already performing in front of large audiences. In 2002, I played my first major show to 10,000 people, and from that moment, my career as a guitarist took off. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of performing with talented musicians, collaborating on projects, and working as a support guitarist for some of the biggest names in music.
I am deeply inspired by the rich blend of genres — from rock and metal to acoustic and experimental music. My playing is characterized by a combination of technical precision, emotional expression, and a unique style that sets me apart in the music world.
Education and Teaching Philosophy
I hold a degree in Children’s Music Education from the State University of Minas Gerais, which has shaped my approach to teaching and mentoring students. With over 10 years of experience, I currently teach at the School of Rock in Belo Horizonte, where I guide aspiring musicians of all ages and skill levels.
My teaching philosophy focuses on:
Building confidence through live performances.
Encouraging creativity and collaboration.
Helping students master technical skills while fostering a love for music.
I believe that music is more than just learning scales — it’s about finding your voice and expressing yourself freely through sound.
What I Do
Performer: I’ve performed in countless live shows, both as a solo artist and as a support guitarist. My performances are known for their high energy and emotional depth.
Composer: My compositions reflect my modern guitar style, blending technical expertise with heartfelt emotion. “Veja o Sol,” my standout single, is an example of my commitment to crafting music that resonates with listeners.
Educator: As a teacher, my goal is to inspire others by sharing the knowledge and techniques I’ve gathered over the years. I strive to make learning music an enjoyable and rewarding experience for my students.
